Chiche Help

Terms of Use

The rules of the game, and what we expect from everyone. By using Chiche, you accept them.

In short

18+

Chiche is for adults only.

€0

Never any money between players. No stakes, no bets, no kitty.

A forfeit never obliges you to do anything dangerous.

No humiliation, no alcohol, no money, nobody outside the group. If a forfeit makes you uncomfortable, you don’t do it.

1. Who publishes Chiche

Chiche is a free iPhone app for challenges between friends, published by Florian Pichard (see the legal notice, in French). Contact: support@getchiche.app.

These terms apply to the app and to the getchiche.app website. What Chiche does with your data is explained in the privacy policy. This is a translation: if it differs from the French version, the French version prevails.

2. Minimum age

You must be 18 or over to use Chiche. By creating an account, you confirm that you are. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it.

3. Your account

  • Your account is anonymous: a first name, with no email or password. It lives on your iPhone.
  • Choose a first name or a nickname, not someone else’s name, and nothing offensive.
  • You are responsible for what you do with your account.
  • You can delete it at any time, in the app.

4. The rules of the game

  • The group. A challenge brings together 2 to 8 people, invited by a link. You can join it during its first week. Each person can follow up to 3 challenges at once.
  • The goal. When signing the pact, everyone picks their goal: a number of sessions per week, from 1 to 7.
  • The season. A challenge lasts 4 weeks, Monday to Sunday. The group can restart it afterwards.
  • The proof. A session is proved with a photo taken in the app, or with an image from your photo library, a screenshot from a sports app for instance. At most one proof per day. It must show a real session, done by you, that day.
  • The vote. The other members approve or challenge the proof with one tap. With 2 challenges, it is rejected. If nobody challenges it within 12 hours, it is approved automatically.
  • The verdict. Every Sunday at 8 pm (Paris time), Chiche tallies the week. A proof counts unless it has been rejected, even if the group hasn’t voted yet. Those who didn’t reach their goal take a forfeit.
  • The draw. The time of the forfeit, or the surprise forfeit, is drawn at random. The draw is reproducible: it gives the same result for the whole group and can be checked.

Playing means playing fair: no fake proofs, no photos of someone else, no tactical votes to trap someone.

5. Forfeits

The group picks the forfeit when creating the challenge, and everyone knows it before signing.

  • "Without your apps". By default, 24 hours per missed session, with a maximum of 72 hours per challenge. The creator can choose 12 or 48 hours per session, and a forfeit on the following weekend instead of a time drawn at random.
  • "A surprise forfeit". One forfeit per missed session, drawn from a list: a set story, a set pose, a chore, a set playlist, a bonus session, a set wallpaper. The group can remove some, and add up to 6 of its own, 40 characters each.

What a forfeit can never be

Whether it comes from the list or from the group, a forfeit must never:

  • involve money, a purchase or a donation;
  • involve alcohol, tobacco or drugs;
  • be humiliating, sexual, dangerous or illegal;
  • target a particular person, or involve anyone outside the group (calling them, messaging them, filming them).

Banned words are refused as they’re typed. If a forfeit offends you, write to us at support@getchiche.app.

A forfeit is just a game. Nobody has to do it. If you don’t, there is no consequence other than what your group thinks.

6. Screen Time

The "without your apps" forfeit uses Apple’s Screen Time, with your permission, on your own iPhone. You choose the apps to pause yourself. Nobody else can lock or unlock your phone: the pause only follows the rules you accepted when signing.

  • iOS pauses whole apps or categories, not part of an app.
  • You can always tap "Unlock anyway", or remove Screen Time access in Settings. So Chiche doesn’t promise a block that can’t be got around.
  • Your group sees that you chose your apps, whether you unlock before a forfeit ends, and whether your forfeit is no longer active. You agree to this by tapping "J’accepte et je choisis mes apps" (I agree and choose my apps).
  • If you decline Screen Time access, your forfeits become surprise forfeits.

There is no way to pay to lift a forfeit.

7. No money

Chiche is free, with no advertising and no in-app purchases. There is never any money between players: no stakes, no bets, no kitty, no deposit.

Using Chiche to organise money bets is forbidden, even outside the app. In France, gambling between private individuals is prohibited (Code de la sécurité intérieure, article L.320-1).

8. Your photos and texts

Your proofs, captions and the forfeits you write remain yours. You only give Chiche the right to store them and show them to challenge members, for the duration of the game. That right ends when the content is deleted.

You agree to post only content you have the right to share. Forbidden content includes:

  • nudity, sexual or violent content;
  • a person photographed without their consent;
  • harassment, threats, insults, hate;
  • any illegal content, or content that puts someone in danger.

9. Moderation and reporting

  • In the app, you can report a proof (it disappears for you straight away), challenge a proof, and leave a challenge so you no longer see anything from its group (the group is told).
  • For any offensive content or behaviour, write to support@getchiche.app with the challenge title. We handle every report within 24 hours and remove any illegal content as soon as we’re aware of it.
  • We may delete a forfeit, a proof or an account that breaks these terms, or remove someone from a challenge, without notice if it’s serious.

10. Liability

  • Chiche is provided free of charge, as is. We do our best to keep it working, but there may be outages, late notifications or errors.
  • Chiche is not medical advice. Choose a goal that suits you, and listen to your body. You alone are responsible for your sessions and for what you do for a forfeit.
  • Everyone is responsible for what they post and how they treat others.
  • Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time, in the app. An account that hasn’t been opened for 12 months is deleted automatically. We may also delete an account that breaks these terms.

12. Changes and governing law

  • If these terms change significantly, we’ll let you know in the app before they apply.
  • The app is also subject to Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement for App Store apps. Apple is not a party to these terms.
  • These terms are governed by French law. If something goes wrong, write to us first and we’ll look for a solution. Failing that, the courts with jurisdiction under the law will decide.
